Every Friday, I review our school newsletter with Mrs Brewster. It is always a lovey read, but this week, I was thrilled to see so many individual student achievements being celebrated along with some very impressive group successes. I do urge you to read our weekly update as it as great reflection of how busy and accomplished our students are. I absolutely love the fact that, when we look back on our week, we always say “where has the week gone”? but equally, we say “we have packed so much in”! I would like to congratulate Isabelle, Grace, Olivia and Sophie for their Freestyle Dance competition successes, along with Phoebe for her achievements in the NACE Photography competition, together with Katy and Ella for representing Great Britain in Roller Dance. Equally, Katie has done incredibly well as part of her Youth Ballet and Alex has excelled in Netball, whilst Lilly has made us all very proud in her Kent Youth County Council achievements. These individual and group successes are just a few examples of the achievements of our very talented and busy students.
We often hear quotes about busy people. For example, ‘If you want a job done well, give it to a busy person’. I certainly agree with this and it mirrors my outlook. I like to be busy! However, we can also reflect on a quote by Thoreau, who states ‘It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?’ It is therefore important that this week as we embark upon our theme of ‘Consideration’ that we think carefully and consider exactly ‘what we are going to be doing?’ We must be selective and use our time wisely. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to our students being busy in the first stage of the Senior Prefect team Hustings, whereby we will be ‘considering’ the strengths of our prospective Head Girl and Head Boy for the next academic year. This is an exciting and yet daunting prospect for everyone involved; particularly the candidates. But, one thing I do know is that we will all love to see the individual and group achievements of those involved as part of that all-important process! So, our preparation for such a high profile role must start in Year 7 and we must encourage an ‘active’ and ‘busy’ journey towards all our successes – of which, I know there will be many because Invicta students like to be busy!
